Final Preparations in Maryport
20th June 2009 34 tonnes of Russian coal were loaded into the hold of VIC 96
21st June 2009 the first sea trials were carried out
22nd June 2009 the compass was swung
5th July 2009 VIC 96 left Maryport Harbour for the last time, bound for Chatham
The VIC 96 Trust would particularly like to thank all those who assisted during the 5 years spent travelling to Maryport, especially Nando Lopez and all the staff at The Waverley Hotel in Maryport for their hospitality; Paul 'Sheddy' Simpson for all his help, especially bringing coals to Newcastle during the voyage home; Mike Hawkins at MP Marine; John Barber, Ship's Rigger; John Dunsmore, Ship's Keeper and John McEvoy, Pilot Star.
